If you are interested in becoming a state or national USA Powerlifting (USAPL) certified referee, you will need the approval of the USAPL Tennessee state chair and must pass the state referee test.
Other requirements include:
A minimum of one year of USA Powerlifting experience
Current USAPL member in good standing
Volunteering experience at one or more USA Powerlifting events in Tennessee per year.

The state USAPL Referee test is divided into two parts:
Written Exam: This is a two-hour open book online test.
Practical Exam: This is an in-person evaluation that is done with a national-level Referee at a USAPL-sanctioned event.
